DESCRIPTION

ODOP is a unique and successful government project. Since 2018, Uttar Pradesh's export capacity has increased by over 30 percent due to ODOP. It also provides regular income to many disadvantaged craftsmen and artists who make traditional goods. The success of the ODOP in Uttar Pradesh has prompted other Indian states to implement similar district-level revival efforts for indigenous crafts and goods in two years. Promoting rural entrepreneurship nationwide has also helped implement ODOP nationally. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is establishing an institutional mechanism to promote ‘One District One Product’ with the help of all state governments and Union Territories to realise rural India's true economic potential and align it with the Prime Minister's call to make ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’. Identify one product each district based on its potential and strength and national goals, then establish a cluster for that product that can produce world-class products with quality, scalability, and a brand and market connections. ODOP accomplishments reverberate at the highest government levels. Our Prime Minister and Union ministers regularly emphasise India's untapped land, labour, and natural resource potential and the need to fully explore its opportunities via value-addition. Present book is an effort for exploring this unique idea of ODOP.
